Are you looking for a unique way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, engagement, or other event? Try hosting a beer tasting party!
Not only is a beer tasting a great way to gather with friends, it also offers the opportunity to experience new flavours from local craft breweries or to try international beers!
Hosting a Beer Tasting
To host your beer tasting, you will need to gather a selection of different beers (of course). According to the experts, the optimal number of different beers you should plan to feature is between four to seven, in quantities large enough to pour 4-ounce samples of each variety.
Along with your beers, you need plenty of sampling cups, food, tasting score cards, and other printables. The printables will help you keep your event organized and give everything a cohesive feel.
To make hosting easy, here are some inspiring ideas to help you create your own beer tasting score cards, printable labels, and tags!
Beer Tasting Invitations
If your beer tasting will be part of a milestone event, opt for paper invitations to add special appeal. Easily print your own using Avery Notecards or Invitation Cards (available in-store) and our Design & Print Online tool! You can also opt for custom printed cards, an excellent choice for formal or corporate events.
Beer Tasting Scorecards
Beer tasting scorecards make it easy for guests to record their thoughts about the different beers sampled during your event. While there are many different characteristics of a beer that can be scrutinized during each sip, many casual beer drinkers prefer a simple scoring system involving flavour, aroma, and an overall score.
You can use Avery Notecards to create an easy, all-in-one scorecard that allows guests to add their thoughts about each beer in one convenient spot.
Beer Markers
Whether you use a numbering system, label my flags or regions, or simply call out the name of each beer, you want to ensure that your guests will be able to correctly identify which beer goes where in their scorecard.
Try using square labels attached to cardstock or a small frame, or hang a tag around the neck of an open bottle in the vicinity of your sample cups to create a beer tasting label system that’s easy for guests to see.
Buffet Labels
Food is an essential part of any beer tasting event! Whether you plan to serve a themed sit down meal or a selection of light snacks, create informative signs and labels for platters, bowls, and other vessels. Buffet labels and cards not only look great, they also help inform guests about each offering and potentially alert them to allergens.
To create custom buffet labels that match the overall look and feel of your beer tasting event, try sandwiching a wood stir stick of buffet pick between two labels of the same size and shape. For example, we used 2” square labels in the above image to create labels for a large grazing platter!
Favour Tags
Bottle openers, insulating sleeves, and beer glasses make lovely parting gifts that play into the theme of your event, while, treats like cookies, kettle cooked chips, and other snacks are always appreciated!
No matter what your choice of favours may be, create labels or tags that match the theme of your event! Tags are great for unwrapped items and items in cello bags, while labels are perfect for boxed favours and items in paper bags. Of course, the choice is up to you!
